Red Paint: The Ancestral Autobiography of a Coast Salish Punk by Sasha taqʷšəblu LaPointe wins Washington State Book Award

The 2024 Whatcom READS selection, Red Paint: The Ancestral Autobiography of a Coast Salish Punk by Sasha taqʷšəblu LaPointe, has won the Washington State Book Award for Creative Nonfiction/Memoir. LaPointe, who is a Coast Salish author from the Upper Skagit and Nooksack Indian tribes, will visit Whatcom County March 14-16, 2024, for several free community events.  

The Washington State Book Awards are presented by the Washington Center for the Book, which is affiliated with the Library of Congress and administered by the Washington State Library. The awards are given to outstanding books published by Washington authors. Literary merit, lasting importance and overall quality are the considerations for the awards.
